Flush the Toilets: This removes the water stored in the tanks.
Once the water stops flowing from the taps, the pressure is gone, and the active leaking should cease.
4. Relieve Trapped Air and Moisture
If you have a “ceiling bulge” where water is pooling behind the drywall, the weight can eventually cause the entire ceiling to collapse.
Place a bucket under the bulge and carefully poke a small hole in the center with a screwdriver to let the water drain. This controlled release can prevent a much larger, messier ceiling failure.
If it is safe, move furniture, rugs, and valuables out of the wet zone immediately.
